01 Does my golf buggy need servicing?
Yes, but not much. Electric buggies need very little maintenance, and a few simple checks will keep yours running well for years. We also recommend a professional check-up once a year.
02 What maintenance can I do myself?
Most day-to-day care is quick and easy:
- Fully charge the battery after use.
- Tyre pressure (30 PSI).
- Headlights, tail lights and indicators.
- Horn is working.
- A check-up with an experienced buggy mechanic.
03 Do I need to “break in” a new battery?
Yes. New batteries arrive at around 75% of their full capacity and reach full performance after a short break-in period of 10–20 charge cycles. Here’s how:
- Fully charge it before first use. Let the charger switch itself off.
- Drive as normal until about a quarter of the charge is used (roughly 9 holes of golf).
- Plug it back in and charge fully. It’s important not to interrupt the charge cycle.
- Repeat for the first 10–20 cycles. You should notice better power, speed and range by around the 12th cycle.
For the life of your battery: never let it drop below 20%, and switch it off if the buggy won’t be used for a long time.
04 How long is the battery warranty?
All our lithium batteries come with a 5-year warranty.
Not covered- Lack of maintenance
- Regularly undercharging the battery
- Failure caused by an outside electrical source or third-party wiring
- Tampering with the charger or its settings
Important: the Oceans Buggies lithium battery is the only battery authorised for an Oceans buggy. Fitting a battery from any other supplier will void your warranty.
05 Are the buggies ready to drive on the road?
Yes. Our road legal models, such as the Z2, are EEC certified for use on public roads. Like any vehicle, they still need to pass the ITV and be registered before you drive on the road.
